Dear Members,

The first month of the year is done and I hope it has been a good start to the year for you all. The soundings at home and abroad is that 2026 is shaping to be a significant step up on 2025 and that brings a different type of challenge, specifically around skills and recruitment. The challenges around recruitment in our industry have been around for a long time and it only highlights the need for investment in skills, not only in your own staff but also in the wider industry as a whole.

MMC Ireland, with Pat Kirwan, our Policy chair leading the way, are taking an active role in the creation of a new European MMC organisation. We have been asked by other member states to lead on this exciting initiative and myself and Pat are discussing the best way forward for our members and the wider European market. We discussed at the Technical Working Group on Monday the request from the EU Commission for bold MMC initiatives they want to fund as well as the proposal for a 3D volumetric steel framed robotic factory. We have our follow up call next week and there is still time to get involved in this if you want to get in touch with Anna directly.

It is only 5 weeks to our National Conference. It is fair to say that it has become a must attend event in the construction calendar in such a short space of time and that is down to you, the members. Without you, there is no MMC Ireland and there is no appetite for our potential clients and wider stakeholders to want to attend this national event. The event space sold out last year and the attendee tickets are selling faster than last year and it is on track to be another sell out.

We have some fantastic speakers, each of which have been chosen to further our knowledge of what is going on in the industry and what we can expect from further innovations. Sales presentations are strictly banned so the intention is that you leave the day having further developed your knowledge of the industry.

There is of course the networking food and drinks on the evening after the event and this has become a much talked about networking opportunity where many a lasting relationship has already been formed.

The day before the event we have the privilege of a factory tour of Forte Pespa’s new facility in Rathcoole and there is a rapid networking event for members in the Johnstown Estate that evening. Reach out to Anna if you haven’t already registered.

I can’t wait for the National Conference and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all there in March.
