Case Studies
Walls Construction
In under three months from initial order, Portakabin delivered a large-scale modular complex and site cabins to support 84 office staff and numerous general operatives. The original complex was achieved using 30 Portakabin Konstructa modules, providing 826m² of space fully fit out with electrics, double sockets, lighting and heating. This high quality, energy rated modular building was completed in just over two weeks plus five external site cabins were also installed to be used for changing rooms and toilets.
After the initial handover, Walls Construction then required an additional level. With a completed building already on site, Portakabin was able to successfully deliver these supplementary cabins, making it the first triple-storey site accommodation complex in Ireland.
ALDI
To fulfil the high quality expectations of ALDI, Portakabin recommended its premium Ultima modular building system, offering permanent-quality construction combined with superior energy efficiency and aesthetics. The two-storey building designed for ALDI provides 560m2 of floor space, with a mix of individual and open-plan offices, meeting rooms, toilets and a spacious kitchen and canteen facility.
The building features special interior partition walls and doors that provide enhanced soundproofing, as well as a climate-control system to create comfortable working conditions all year round. The new building was integrated into the existing offices via a brick-built link structure, creating a seamless transition between the two buildings.
All groundworks and building installation had to be carried out during working hours on the operational headquarters site. The total time spent on site was just eight weeks – a fraction of the time required for a traditional build.
Genzyme

The Portakabin Ultima system was used to create the large single-storey office facilities required by Genzyme. Portakabin designed and built a separate two-module building for use as the gowning room, which would connect the non-sterile office building with the sterile areas of the main building.
