MMC Ireland Members’ Newsletter – August 2024

MMC Ireland Members’ Newsletter – August 2024

Hello << Test First Name >>

Message from CEO, Paul Tierney

The holiday season is nearly over for most and I hope you and your families enjoyed whatever break you had.

I’d like to thank all of you for partaking in our one-on-one calls with Phillip to allow us complete the first MMC Ireland Catalogue. The catalogue will go live on September 16th and there will be ongoing opportunities to add, update and amend your entry to ensure the catalogue is as current as possible. We are regularly asked about capabilities, products and services our members have and to have a live catalogue will be hugely beneficial in promoting what you do.

Our pre-Budget submission is complete and will be submitted to Government on Tuesday . Thank you to those who contributed, highlighting some key areas that you wanted highlighted. I’d like to personally thank Pat Kirwan, Chair of the Policy Group, for leading on this important submission.

There are a lot of MMC workstreams going on in Government at the moment but two of the most important we are involved in are, the first workshop for Standardised Designs, hosted by the Dept of Housing with their newly appointed design team Hawkins\Brown and secondly a report, being led by EY, on what the key criteria are that will allow the Government procure MMC projects in the future.

Keep an eye out for some articles in the next couple of weeks, one in Eolas Magazine and one in BIM Today where we discuss delivering sustainable infrastructure and digital construction.

The Dept. of Enterprise’s MMC Survey has been extended by a further week and I urge those of you who have not completed it to do so. The details are on my mail I sent earlier this week. It’s an important survey for Government and will help them shape current and future MMC Policy.

Our Members Portal is live with some excellent features so be sure to check it out at mmcireland.ie

Lastly I look forward to seeing the members at the UK Offsite Expo in Coventry and if you’re there come to the MMC Ireland Hub and we can catch up.

Thanks,

Paul

MMC Ireland Pre-Budget Submission

Digitalise – Decarbonise – Deliver

Message from Pat Kirwan, Chair of the Policy Support & Integration working group:

Thank you to all members who have contributed ideas for inclusion in MMC Ireland’s ‘Pre-Budget 2025 Submission’. The final version will be presented to Government on Monday and we trust it’s impact will be felt

As the leading industry representative body for Ireland’s offsite construction sector, it is critical that we use our knowledge and project insights to advocate for the right measures in Budget 2025. Given the political landscape ahead, the sector requires certainty that increased MMC adoption is underpinned by government policy. With that objective in mind, our proposals are calling for the government to support the industry to further decarbonise and digitalise in order to deliver the housing, healthcare, education and other critical infrastructure needed.

Thank you to the Policy Support & Integration Working Group and to the wider membership for sharing your time and insights. There is a huge body of work to be done to ensure wide spread adaption of MMC across public and private sector projects in Ireland and this was a great start!

MMC Ireland Working Groups

There is growing body of work for all three working groups, including the technical catalogue showcased below, and wider member input would be greatly appreciated.

All members are welcome and encouraged to join the working groups. To get involved email Katie or sign up for updates at info@mmcireland.com

Offsite Construction Week UK

MMC Ireland, as a partner of the event, have been given a dedicated lounge space within the Expo arena, which can be used by all members to network, host meetings, catch up on emails or just have a break and charge your phone. To increase the value for our members who wish to travel, MMC Ireland has arranged to work with a UK-based liaison (our MMC matchmaker!) to support members in arranging meetings and making new connections in advance of the Expo.

Anna Whiting has been working in the MMC space for over 20 years and will reach out to our contacts on your behalf to arrange meetings for you and your team. If there are specific companies, disciplines, supply chain members etc you would like to meet, please send in any requests to us at info@mmcireland.com and we will endeavour to set up meetings for you in the MMC Ireland Hub.

Any members who would like to display collateral or branded items at the MMC Ireland hub, please contact Katie on Katie@mmcireland.com to arrange delivery to the venue where we will be setting up displays. Refreshments will be available for you and your guests, and we encourage you to use this as your base for the event. The team will be on hand throughout the expo to support all MMC Ireland members. We will have a rolling presentation on screen, displaying your company products and details. If you have an update from the information we used at our National Conference please send it on and if not, we will use that (unless instructed otherwise).
