Dear Members,
MMC Ireland National Conference
It is hard to believe our National Conference was less than 3 weeks ago. It is fair to say from the widespread feedback, from you, the members, and other that it was a great success.
As an organisation we are growing year on year and our industry is evolving as we grow. Our members, the speakers and panelists were a testament to that and we as an organisation will continue to stay on the front foot in representing you across all fronts.
I do want to thank everyone involved on the couple of days who made it the event it was, especially Anna and Katie and I’d like to pay a particular thank you to Carol Tallon and Amey Puro and all the team at Property District who did a fantastic job in the weeks running up to the conference.
We are collating the feedback during the conference with the responses to the menti questions and we will share that with you in the next couple of weeks and we would appreciate your comments on that. This feedback helps us shape the future direction of the organisation so it is vital we hear your voice.
New initiatives
There are some new initiatives that we will be launching soon, including:
· We will be commissioning a company on behalf of the members to assist you with your EPD certs for your products. We hope to have this sponsored by some of the larger members and this will be of significant benefit to those of you who have yet to have your products verified by an accredited third party. We will discuss this initiative with the IGBC to explore partnership opportunities.
· We are in dialogue with the multiple Government and third party organisations nationwide who have multiple skills and training opportunities for the MMC industry. This is quite fragmented, and we want to organise presentations from them to you to ensure you are aware of the magnitude of free and heavily subsidised offerings available to you.
· We are launching a lunch and learn series allowing the members to promote their business in line with some key criteria that we will outline. These webinars will be recorded, held on the MMC Ireland website and promoted on our media channels. We are 100 followers shy of 10,000 so our outreach is significant.
· We are discussing holding our next Members Day at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre of Excellence in Dundalk. www.amtce.ie
There is some cutting edge machinery and equipment on view in a state of the art facility and we will be in touch with some dates shortly.
The National Construction Summit
The National Construction Summit takes place next week in Blanchardstown and I know a number of you are exhibiting and attending. I am on the Main Stage on Thursday morning and will be on the MMC Stage at some point in the afternoon. Anna will be there both Wednesday and Thursday and I know already has meetings scheduled. I look forward to catching up with as many of you as I can on Thursday.
New MMC Ireland Directors
Finally, and very importantly we will be holding elections this year for new Directors to join the Board. The organisation is 3 years old this year and in line with the constitution there will be elections held and I would encourage you to put your name forward to assist your organisation in it’s path forward. We understand that your time is very valuable but if you have the capacity to help shape the organisation and the industry put your name forward. I will be in touch in due course outlining the process in detail in a full, open and transparent way.
