Case Studies

Atlantic Technology University (ATU), Galway

As the Main Contractor, we provided ATU with a complete turnkey service in delivering two buildings at their Dublin Road and Wellpark Road campuses. Both buildings are two-storey structures, fully compliant with BCAR and have an A2 BER energy rating.

The Dublin Road building comprises 22 modules spanning 750 m2 of total floor area. It includes seven lecture rooms, five tutorial rooms, and three large administration offices, with toilet facilities for students and staff, and lifts for accessibility. The Wellpark Road building (pictured) comprises 20 modules and has a total floor area of 625 m2. It features two large art study rooms, two sizeable multimedia rooms, a computer lab, toilet facilities for students and staff, and lifts for accessibility.

The modules were manufactured in three months and installed on-site in just three days. Today, both buildings accommodate 200 people each at a time and serve as vibrant, modern learning spaces enjoyed by students and staff alike.

HSE St Joseph’s Hospital, Limerick

The HSE’s chronic disease management service in the Mid-West was spread across a number of unsuitable locations. This led to significant delays in delivering the service and advancing its development.

In collaboration with the HSE, its architectural representatives, Coady Architects, and our project partners Quinn Architects, PHM Engineering, and Woods Engineering, we completed a turnkey project for a 787 m², A2 BER-rated, 3D volumetric modular building with associated infrastructure, purpose-built to centralise and support this essential healthcare service.

The building features a sizeable entrance foyer, five clinical rooms, two rehabilitation gyms with a bi-folding wall system, three podiatry rooms, five diagnostic rooms (including respiratory diagnostics), eight administration offices, an education room, a quiet room, a canteen room, welfare facilities (including shower/toilet rooms), a sluice room, and more.

Externally, the works included a new 38-bay car park with electric vehicle charging points serving five parking bays, a dedicated set-down area, five accessibility bays, and a 22-bay locked bicycle shelter. It also included perimeter public lighting, a new footpath linking the car park area to the new hospital and an upgraded access track between the new hospital and the existing facility. We also installed new drainage infrastructure as per the design, incorporating a 90 m3 attenuation tank with a petrol interceptor for surface water management.

Pharmaceutical Client, Limerick

We completed two buildings for a pharmaceutical client based in Limerick: a two-storey and a single-storey structure, totalling 96 modules and 1,382 m2 of total floor area.

The two-storey building features fully furnished open-plan workspaces, private offices, meeting rooms, a canteen, and welfare facilities. The other building houses an on-site restaurant that serves up to 800 employees daily. Both buildings were equipped with an advanced HVAC system to reduce energy consumption while maintaining a comfortable environment.

Manufacturing the modules off-site took three weeks, with installation completed in two weeks, followed by three weeks for the final bespoke fit-out. The project was designed to meet the client’s requirements by delivering a functional space quickly, with no disruption to a highly regulated live pharmaceutical environment.
